Old Course New England

NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA

This project holds a poignant but ultimately inspiring story. Originally comitted in 2015 for a home refresh and mild upgrades, our involvement unexpectedly expanded to encompass a room addition and a complete backyard overhaul. Tragically, shortly after the backyard transformation, a devastating fire nearly consumed the entire home, sparing only its front section. What followed was a two-year journey of resilience and rebirth.

Throughout the reconstruction, we tailored the home to match their lifestyle, emphasizing entertainment and the chance to create new memories. A standout feature is the folding window in the kitchen, seamlessly connecting the indoor and outdoor spaces. We paid homage to their East Coast roots while infusing the design with the breezy Newport Beach lifestyle. This project remains a testament to the power of transformation and second chances.

“Working with Valerie and Serendipite Designs has been one of the best decisions I have made since moving to CA. She is unlike any designer I have ever met. Valerie is unique in that she wanted to get to know me and my family in order to create a home unique to us and our lifestyle. She is aware of all the latest trends and colors, but uses them in a way that incorporates colors, styles, and history we love. This makes our home very different than other homes that often feel like replications when done by other designers. My home cannot be replicated because Valerie made the effort to know who we are and what we wanted to achieve in our home.

When people walk into my home they often say it’s not just a house...it feels like a our home. Many people have told me that spending time in our home feels like they are getting a hug from us.
